Terms of Use

Ryst · Last updated 15 June 2026

These terms apply to your use of Ryst, an app made by Bred Applications (Jonathan Bredtoft), based in Denmark. By using Ryst, you agree to them. Please read the safety and wellbeing sections carefully.

What Ryst is — and is not

Ryst is a release ritual: a private space to put down anger and step away. Ryst is not therapy, not medical or mental-health treatment, and not a crisis or emergency service. It is not a substitute for professional care, diagnosis, or advice. Nothing in the app is a clinical recommendation.

Emotional wellbeing & your choice to use Ryst

A release ritual can bring up strong feelings. You use Ryst by your own choice and decide what is right for you. If using the app ever feels distressing, please stop.

If you are in crisis or may be at risk of harming yourself or others, Ryst is not the right tool. Please reach out right away to someone you trust, a local helpline, or your local emergency services. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for emotional responses that arise from using the app.

Physical safety (the shake)

Part of Ryst involves shaking your device. Before you do:

You take part in this physical activity at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any injury, or for any damage to your device or surroundings, arising from the shake or any other physical use of the app.

Your licence to use Ryst

Ryst is licensed, not sold, to you for personal, non-commercial use, in line with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which applies in addition to these terms. You agree not to misuse, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the app except as the law allows.

Purchases & subscriptions

Ryst offers optional paid plans through the App Store. All purchases, billing, renewals, and refunds are handled by Apple under your App Store account and your local law. You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription in your device's App Store settings. We do not process or store your payment details.

Privacy

How Ryst handles your information is described in our Privacy Policy. In short: what you draw, write, or speak to let a feeling out is never saved to a file or uploaded; the only data that is saved — including any feeling you create and keep — stays in your own private iCloud.

The app is provided "as is"

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ryst is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or produce any particular result. This does not affect any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bred Applications will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for emotional, physical, or property harm arising from your use of Ryst. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Age

Ryst is rated 12+. If you are under the age of majority in your country, please use Ryst only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence. Where local law gives you stronger rights, those rights apply.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the "last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will make them clear before they take effect.
