Terms of Use — Alkadiet

Last updated: 25 July 2026 These terms are an agreement between you and Bred Applications. Apple is not a party to them.

2. What Alkadiet is — and what it is not

Alkadiet estimates the acid or base load your food leaves for your kidneys to clear, using PRAL (Potential Renal Acid Load), a formula published by Remer & Manz in 1995 and validated against urine measurements. You log what you eat; the app computes a daily figure and shows it on a colour scale.

What it is not:

You are responsible for what you eat. Use Alkadiet as one honest signal about your diet, not as a verdict on it.

3. Who may use it

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a binding contract. If you are below the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they accept these terms with you.

4. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Alkadiet on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, and by these terms. Family Sharing is not enabled for the subscription.

You may not: copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app; reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it except to the extent that mandatory law allows; strip or alter any notice in it; use it to build a competing dataset or service; scrape or bulk-extract the bundled food database; or send automated traffic to the scan relay or circumvent its rate limits or the app's daily scan budget.

5. Alkadiet Plus — subscription, trial and billing

Alkadiet requires an active Alkadiet Plus subscription. There is no advertising-funded tier; the subscription is how the app is paid for.

6. The AI photo scan

When you photograph a meal, the image is sent through our relay to a third-party AI vision model (Google Gemini) which returns guesses at what is on the plate and how much it weighs. See the privacy policy §5.1 and §11.

You must understand and accept how rough this is:

7. Food data

8. Your content

Your log, your photos and your notes are yours. They live on your device and in your own private iCloud storage. We claim no licence to them and have no access to them, which means we also cannot recover them for you if you lose them. If iCloud is off, an uninstall takes your log with it.

9. Availability and changes

We may change, add or remove features, and we may end the app or a feature entirely. If we shut the app down, we will say so in advance where we reasonably can, and you can stop paying by cancelling as described in §5. Photo scanning depends on a third-party model and a hosted relay and may be unavailable, slow or rate-limited; manual logging does not depend on either.

We may update these terms. For material changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Alkadiet after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, cancel and stop using the app.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop at any time by cancelling and deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms in a way that damages the service or other users — for example by attacking or abusing the relay. Where the breach is not serious and can be fixed, we will ask you to fix it first.

11. Warranties

We provide Alkadiet with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows us to say so, the app is provided "as is": we do not warrant that it is free of errors, that any estimate is accurate, or that it will always be available.

Nothing in these terms removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you have statutory rights to a conforming digital service under the Digital Content Directive as implemented where you live (in Denmark, købeloven and forbrugeraftaleloven), and those rights apply regardless of what this section says.

12. Liability

To the extent permitted by law:

We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Danish or EU consumer law.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Danish law. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer rules in your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

Before going to court, please write to us — most problems are a misunderstanding and are quicker to fix by email. Danish consumers may also complain to Nævnenes Hus / Center for Klageløsning (naevneneshus.dk), and EU consumers may use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform where available.

14. Additional terms required for App Store distribution

These terms apply in addition to everything above, because Alkadiet is distributed through Apple's App Store.

  1. Acknowledgement. These terms are between you and Bred Applications only, not Apple. Bred Applications, not Apple, is solely responsible for Alkadiet and its content.
  2. Scope of licence. The licence granted in §4 is non-transferable and limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules, except that the app may be accessed by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing where Apple enables it.
  3. Maintenance and support. Bred Applications is solely responsible for any maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to furnish either.
  4. Warranty. Bred Applications is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If Alkadiet fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Alkadiet.
  5. Product claims. Bred Applications, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to Alkadiet or your use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
  6. Intellectual property. In the event of any third-party claim that Alkadiet or your use of it infringes that party's intellectual property rights, Bred Applications, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  7. Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. Developer contact. Questions, complaints and claims about Alkadiet go to the contact address in §1.
  9. Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app — including the Apple Media Services Terms for your subscription.
  10. Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and have the right to enforce them against you as such.

15. Miscellaneous

If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours if we sell or reorganise the business, without reducing your rights.
